EPA Awards Over $30,000 to the Natural Resource Conservation Service

 

(Dallas, Texas – January 13, 2010)  The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has awarded $30,600 to the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS).  The NRCS is initiating a groundwater/soil study north of Bosquecito in Socorro County, New Mexico.  In partnership with EPA, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and the New Mexico Environment Department, NRCS is leading the project demonstration efforts and agency coordination.  The study area consists of an area of approximately 400 acres along the eastern banks of the Rio Grande floodplain.  Specific study sites will be located within the Rio Grande bosque approximately 200-500 feet from the river channel.
