(PHILADELPHIA – May 6, 2010) – Second-grader Yusef Kose from Newark, Del. was among the winners of an Earth Day poster contest sponsored by U.S. Environmental Protection Agency mid-Atlantic region and the Philadelphia Zoo.
Kose, a homeschooler, took honors in the “Meaning of Earth Day” category for students in kindergarten through second grade. His winning poster can be viewed among other winners on the EPA website at http://www.epa.gov/region03/ee/posters2010/ .
“It’s encouraging to know that the mid-Atlantic region has so many creative and enthusiastic environmental stewards like Yusef to help spread the Earth Day message on what we need to do to protect the health and future of our planet,” said EPA Regional Administrator Shawn M. Garvin.
