(New York, N.Y. – April 14, 2011) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Earth Institute, Columbia University present "The Path to a Sustainable Future: Public Health and the Environment," a day-long conference to mark 40 years of environmental protection.  Topics of the conference include public health, with a keynote plenary from noted author Sandra Steingraber; smart growth; waste management; PCBs in schools; air quality, and other current issues.  Admission is free.  The public can register at http://www.earth.columbia.edu/calendar.  Media can register by emailing Kevin Krajick at kkrajick@ei.columbia.edu.
