EPA ENBRIDGE OIL SPILL RESPONSE - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
EPA Approved For Up To $13 Million to Fund Federal Oil Spill Response
(Aug. 2, 2010) - EPA has received approval for up to $13 million to fund the federal government’s operations in response to the spill. EPA has the role of Federal On-Scene Coordinator for this incident.
EPA can request additional funding if it determines more is needed. The federal government intends to seek full reimbursement for all costs incurred in connection with this incident from the responsible party, Enbridge Energy Partners, LLP. The U.S. Coast Guard manages the Oil Spill Liability Trust Fund and makes monies available to U.S. EPA and Coast Guard for oil spill response.
