U.S. EPA Administrator Lisa P. Jackson to Announce Millions in “Green” Recovery Act Funding for California 
 Press Conference and Visual Media Opportunity at the Port of Long Beach to Discuss Important Environmental Issues

WHAT:    This week, President Obama’s pick to lead the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Lisa P. Jackson, is visiting California for the first time since being appointed.  On Thursday, Jackson will highlight more than $26 million in EPA grants for projects in Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Riverside Counties. 

WHO:          In addition to Administrator Jackson, invited speakers include California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, Los Angeles Mayor Antonio R. Villaraigosa, and Long Beach Mayor Bob Foster.  Additional agencies and grantees will participate including: the California Air Resources Board, South Coast Air Quality Management District, Port of Long Beach, Port of Los Angeles, and the California Department of Transportation. 

WHERE:     Port of Long Beach, Calif.  Please RSVP to receive a map and directions. 

EVENT TIMELINE - Thursday, October 1
9:45 a.m. - Media check-in (Please allow time to park and check-in to the event.  You must RSVP in advance and bring a photo ID.

The press conference begins promptly at 10:00 a.m. and will be followed by an informal Q & A session with key federal, state and local officials who will be on-hand to discuss how these projects and  Recovery Act funding are revitalizing the U.S. economy by preserving and creating engine equipment manufacturing, installation, and operations jobs.
