EPA to Honor Environmental Champions

(New York, N.Y. – April 28, 2011) As part of its continuing Earth Day celebrations, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) will honor individuals, organizations and businesses from New Jersey, New York, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands that have dedicated their time and energy to protecting the environment.  EPA Regional Administrator Judith Enck, the region’s top EPA official, will recognize their exemplary efforts by presenting them with EPA Environmental Quality Awards during a ceremony tomorrow at EPA’s New York City offices.  Congresswoman Nydia M. Velázquez will give the keynote address.  In addition, the Agency will honor a high school student from New Jersey who is a recipient of the 2011 President’s Environmental Youth Award.
