Oregon and Washington schools and businesses are top 2013 Energy Star Partners in saving energy and fighting climate change   Contact: Suzanne Skadowski, EPA Region 10 Communications, 206-553-6689, skadowski.suzanne@epa.gov   (Seattle – March 26, 2013) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy are honoring a select group of public schools, energy companies, and other organizations as 2013 Energy Star award winners. EPA is recognizing two Oregon and Washington school districts, an Oregon builder’s group, and two energy and real estate companies in Washington as the Energy Star ‘best of the best’ for their long-term commitment to protecting the climate through superior energy efficiency.   Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance - Portland, Oregon Energy Star Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for innovative and high-quality marketing and commitment to the Energy Star Certified Homes program. The nonprofit organization works with the Bonneville Power Administration, Energy Trust of Oregon, and more than 100 Northwest utilities.   Ecova - Spokane, Washington Energy Star Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for continued commitment to integrating EPA’s web-based services into its offerings and encouraging clients to embed Energy Star into their energy management programs. The energy and sustainability management company provides technology solutions to more than 700 clients at more than 600,000 sites in North America.   Bentall Kennedy - Seattle, Washington/Toronto, Ontario Energy Star Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for continuing to set and achieve new energy efficiency goals for its portfolio using Energy Star tools and resources.  The real estate investment advisor serves more than 500 clients with commercial space valued at $29 billion, including assets in the U.S. valued at more than $8.4 billion.   Evergreen Public Schools - Vancouver, Washington Energy Star Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for ongoing commitment to finding new ways to save energy and promote success with Energy Star. The fourth largest district in Washington educates 27,000 students across 35 schools.   Gresham-Barlow School District - Gresham, Oregon Energy Star Partner of the Year – Sustained Excellence Award for leadership among school districts in maintaining deep energy savings and continuing to enhance its comprehensive energy management program. The tenth largest district in Oregon educates 12,000 K-12 students across 19 schools.   For more than two decades, American consumers and businesses have continued to save energy and protect the environment through the Energy Star program. In 2012 alone, Americans, with the help of Energy Star, saved $24 billion on their energy bills and prevented greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 41 million vehicles.
