News Release Contact: David Deegan, (617) 918-1017 Rhode Island Company Pays $198,500 for Clean Air Violations at Brattleboro, VT Facility (Boston, Mass. – May 2, 2013) – The Moore Company, based in Providence R.I., will pay a civil penalty of $198,500 for Clean Air Act violations at its facility in Brattleboro, Vermont. The “Fulflex” facility manufactures and distributes natural and synthetic rubber and elastic tapes, threads, sheets, and rings for use in a broad range of products. The facility violated various conditions of their federally enforceable air permit issued by the Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation (VTDEC), pertaining to the operation and maintenance of its emissions control system and record keeping, as well as an emission limitation established by the permit for particulate matter. Additionally, they violated federal regulations encouraging the recapture and recycling of listed refrigerants during the service, maintenance, and repair of covered appliances. The violations resulted in a release of particulate matter above the permitted limit and made compliance monitoring difficult for VTDEC and EPA, regarding whether the facility properly serviced its refrigerant system and determine whether chlorofluorocarbons were released to the environment. # # # Learn More about the Latest EPA News & Events in New England (http://www.epa.gov/region1/newsevents/index.html) Follow EPA New England on Twitter (http://twitter.com/epanewengland) More info on EPA's Environmental Results in New England (http://www.epa.gov/region1/results/index.html) |
