She will also highlight EPA’s commitment to carrying out President Obama’s Climate Action Plan to reduce carbon pollution, and the new environmental challenges that agriculture and rural communities face. During her visit, McCarthy will also meet with farmers and other members of the agricultural community.   Prior to being named Administrator, McCarthy served as the Assistant Administrator for EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation. She has been a leading advocate for common-sense strategies to protect public health and the environment. Previously, McCarthy served as the Commissioner of the Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection.
