(New York, N.Y. – May 15, 2009) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and New York City Department of Parks and Recreation officials will be in Union Square Park in Manhattan on Tuesday, May 19, 2009, to showcase environmentally-friendly vehicles and give the public tips for greener driving as Memorial Day approaches.  Several EPA SmartWay certified vehicles will be on display in Union Square as well as an interactive exhibit where consumers can learn more about how to reduce vehicle emissions. People will also receive instruction on how to rent or purchase more environmentally-friendly vehicles by using EPA guides.  Among the brands on display will be Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford, Honda, MINI, Saturn, Smart, Toyota and a Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup edition race car to display how high performance and sustainable technology go hand in glove. Additionally, with nearly half of its fleet SmartWay certified, representatives of Enterprise Rent-A-Car will be on hand to display some of their SmartWay certified vehicles.
