$462,000 Grant to Manhattan, Kan., for the Drinking Water System

EPA Region 7 Administrator Karl Brooks said, “Clean drinking water is essential for the residents of the Konza Valley area near Manhattan, Kan. These water infrastructure funds will partially fund the construction project which is estimated to cost $1.4 million.”
The project will extend drinking water service to an area currently served by an inadequate ground water well.
The drinking water construction project will include approximately 10,200 feet of 16-inch water line. It will provide the Konza Valley with a safe and reliable source of drinking water and improved fire protection.
The Safe Drinking Water Act protects human health by regulating the nation’s public drinking water supply. The responsibility for ensuring safe drinking water is shared by EPA, states, tribes, water systems, and the public.
