EPA Awards over $49,000 for Green Jobs for New Mexico High School Students

(Dallas, Texas – June 22, 2010)  The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that the Earth Works Institute (EWI) and Gila Resources Information Project (GRIP) were selected for federal funds to provide green job training for high school students in New Mexico. The projects will teach students climate change mitigation techniques and provide educational tools for a green workforce.

 

The goal of the projects is to train a green workforce in New Mexico. The $25,000 grant to EWI and $24,739 grant to GRIP aids the state in development of green building, alternative transportation, renewable energy, water conservation and sustainable food production. The projects include activities that are authorized by the Clean Air Act and Toxic Substances Control Act.
